Mercedes E500 2005 Navigation System Shuts Down.?

I recently purchased a 2005 Mercedes E500 and the navigation system comes on and displays the Mercedes Benz logo then immediately shuts off. There is something missing from the left-hand side of the trunk that is keeping the navigation/stereo system from working. I just need to know exactly what it is that I need and where I can get it. Thanks.
