Mommies: I got a bad haircut. What do you think, should I call and complain?

Because we're pinching pennies I stopped going to my awesome hairstylist - it's almost $50 by the time I get out of there, just for a haircut. So yesterday I went to one of those walk in $13 salons. The girl missed a bunch of spots . It was literally the fastest haircut I've ever had in my life. My hair is stick straight, all the same length, and shoulder length - not a hard cut to do. I just asked her to take off the dead ends. Anyhoo - when I got home and brushed my hair out, there were chunks in the back and sides that she missed. I had my husband cut the hairs that she missed, and now it's *okay*. Would you call and complain? I can't really go have it "fixed" as my husband all got all the places she missed. Or should I just call it a learning experience and not go back to that girl?

I know this is hardly a life crisis, but it was really irritating. Lol.
Thumbs down not from me. . .

Call it is learning experience.

Now if you had noticed there I would have said something and had someone else fix it. If you call now, what are they going to do, would you go back? Probably not. Might as well just let it go.

ETA - In an attempt to save money, I who have cut my friends hair and they always like it, decided to cut my own last week. I was able to fix it but, it is way shorter than I wanted. But, I have learned, I am sitting behind a desk for a reason. Lol

i say just call it a learning experience and calling it a day, just ask for a different stylist next time. the girl was probably new and is still learning, and as you said it looked fine there and it wasnt until you got home and brushed it out that you noticed, so she probably didnt notice either. next time, bring a brush and after she cuts it and asks if its okay, brush it out and look at it and if you see something you dont like then ask her to fix it. im 18 and have gone to the same $11 walkin barber shop my entire life, my hair is stick straight and i just want them to even out the dead ends and get a trim, so i never saw a point in going to one of those $50 places (plus i hate it when they wash your hair for you), in the 18 ive been going there ive only had one case in which my mother took me back and asked them to fix it, i was about 6 and we had just walked out the door when she noticed a bad spot, so she went back in and just asked them to even it out a little, no big deal, but since youve already gone home and the problems fixed, i would just let it go.

Call it a learning experience. If your pinching pennies and cant afford to go to your other hairstylist then go to a medium costing one instead of the cheapest one you can find. That way your pinching pennies but still getting something of decent quality.

I would call ...The stylist should know what shes doing wrong so she can correct it...If i was the manager i would want to know as thats bad advertising for their salon....

And i just want to add that me too i recently started going to get my hair cut again and what we do since i go every 8 weeks is save half one month and half the next so its not such a big chunk since ya its like 65$ and im not walking out from one of the cheap salons thinking OMG what did she do to my hair....lol

I would call and complain because the girl, who may be recent graduate of beauty school needs to know she isn't cutting hair correctly and maybe needs more training. Hair cuts can't be done too quickly because it should be checked for even layers and ends and styled. Be really careful of walk in hair places, the hairdressers that work in those and are taught to spend only a certain amount of time on a customer, no matter what is being done so they can fit more people in their schedule. I had a bad experience at on of those places as well and now will never go to one again. I would rather spend the $25 and get a great haircut then save and get a half a**ed one. The good thing is your hair will grow back, hopefully quickly and you can go someplace else.

You could call and complain, but they will either offer to do it again, or they will want to look at it and see if they can fix it.

I went to Regis and had mine cut and colored. I made an appointment two days in advance and when I told the lady what I wanted, she said "well I just don't have time for that" which is crappy cause I made an appointment and I was obviously paying her. So she did a crappy job with the cut and I had hair color all over my face. It was even on my nose. She did a crappy job rinsing it out. When I tried to brush it that night, My hands had black color all over them. So I washed the color off my face and rinsed the rest out of my hair. The lady on the phone said she wanted to see it before she could do anything about it. Well there was nothing to see because I fixed it, and I had to be on a plane to California the next morning.

More info than you asked for, but yeah, just don't go there again.

ETA- I went to Mastercuts a while back. The lady washed my hair and put a towel on my head. I took it off and saw a CHUNK of white hair in the towel and the hair still had the roots on it. My hair is a light brown with some black in it. I don't recall getting a discount after that.
