Moms! Our family needs a vacation.. best places to go in US with a 1 year...

...+ a few month old? It's just going to be my husband and I with our daughter who at the time will be a about a year and a few months old at the time (planning trip sometime in April-June). Where should we go that a little one would fully enjoy as well as us?? Where have you been?

We live in the midwest so beaches are always fun.. but spending a week in a hotel and only having the beach to go to? Is that really worth the expense? Obviously we want to save Disney Land/World for when shes a little older.. and no, there is no option to bring a babysitter.. =/

I could use your ideas! What did you do on your family vacation with a little one? Any regrets?

Where should we go? Staying inside the US.
That's a Great idea!! We went on a cruise a few years back and Loved it! I completely forgot they have sitters on board! Thanks!
 
Toddlers are still a bit young to get much out of any vacation destinations, so I'd focus on a destination that you will enjoy and she won't get too bored or annoy other travelers. Outdoors is good.

Maybe a couple of national parks? (And/or, if you like history, check out some battlefiend parks. We have photos of my daughter at about this age sitting on cannons at Shiloh and Wilson's Creek.) You can do short hikes and longer drives, and she can toddle around/ride in the stroller as she feels able. Throw in a zoo or two, and you've got a good, toddler-friendly vacation.
