Motorola Karma - Dead Screen / Data Recovery, how to?

My girlfriend's Karma's screen broke and she wants to try and get some data off it. Any way of pulling SMS off it or no?
I assume not, but whatever.

Biggest thing is contacts and pictures. How do you go about this? Can you give me the steps to do this blind?
IE: Center key, left 4 times, okay, down twice, blah blah blah.
