Motorola w755 charging..?

I recently bought the motorola w755, for the first time should i need to charge it for 8 hours. when i bought my samsung juke and other phones i was told to charge it for 8 hours the first time, it is necessary to do it for the w755 too?

the battery life doesnt last very long..
 
yeah its important because it builds up the battery life and if you dont its gonna wear out really fast and you will have to buy a new one. this rule goes for all electronics with a battery - iPods, etc
