Hi. I have a cheap little mp3 player (RCA TH1012 model). And I love to use it at work with my boom box. The boom box where I work is old and super dusty, and the CD player and cassette tape player in it are soooo dusty that they don't work. The radio is the only thing on it that works... Needless to say, this is where the mp3 player comes in...
Now here is my beef:
I use a belkin MP3 player FM transmitter with the mp3 player. It's pretty simple, I just plug the transmitter thingy into the mp3 player and tune the radio to a "blank" station and it will pick up the transmitter signal and play all the songs in my mp3 player... Wellllll, the transmitter just SOAKS up batteries galore, and there really is no way to plug it into the wall. It has a little hole for an adapter, but I went to radio shack and the idiots there were not only confused with it, but we tried different size adapters and NOTHING worked. I even called Belkin and they said that the transmitter is mainly used in a car with the cigarrette lighter, so I am SOL for that... Now, I am SICK AND TIRED of spending 20$ a month in batteries, and I don't have the patience for rechargeable ones, soooo, um, is there some sort of contraption I can buy that will allow me to just plug my damn mp3 player into the boom box? The boom box doesn't belong to me, so I don't even know where I would plug the contraption in, or if it even has a hole for this type of device. Any suggestions will help... And don't say , "Just listen to the damn radio"... I work in a crappy little farm town, and the only stations they get are country , gospel, and crap like that... Thus, I NEED my OWN music!!! And I don't wanna bring in my own stereo b/c it is soooo dirty in there. No smart-a$$es, or I will turn ya in! Thanx!

I would look for a cheap set of speakers with an audio-in connection that you can plug in or use with batteries. This one for example could work: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8944431&type=product&id=1218027079544
There are a ton of similar simple, cheap speakers like this. Then all you will need is an auxiliary audio connection cable which connects to the headphone jack on your mp3 player and the audio in port on the speakers. Inexpensive, simple, and with the wall plug for the speakers, shouldn't use up so many batteries.

They do also make adapters that will connect a cigarette plug to a wall outlet. You can find one online if you do a search. I don't know how well they work, but you could also try that.
