My 2002 Dodge Stratus engine shut off while I was driving home from work tonight.?

I was doing 35 mph when my engine shut off. When I went to crank it back up it wouldn't start sounding or seeming like it wasn't getting fuel. Is there an inertia switch on the Stratus? This car is possessed. Last week it ran hot. My sister just gave me this car two weeks ago and has never had a problem other than replacing the tranny. She had the left rear tire blow out and said that the gas fill tube is rigged but hasn't given her any problems since. Christmas eve I started the car and the fuel gauge went from full to empty within seconds after starting it, then stalled, but when I turned the key it started right back up and I drove it 80 miles home.....Why won't my car start?
