my 5 year old dachshund has started whining in his crate at bedtime?

he was successfully trained 5 years ago. his lsightly older partner loves the crate and never whines. The fat little guy only is happy sleeping in the recliner with me

Why if he is five years old and trained are you still keeping him in a d**n cage?

He is used to having you sleep with him. Let him whine. He will just have to get over it unless you want him to sleep with you every night of your life.
I know it is hard, but just try. It will hopefully pass if you ignore him when he cries, for a few days

Dachshunds are quite intelligent (and quite charming!)... he knows if he whines, he'll likely get his way. Just ride it out, and he will eventually learn that he needs to stay in his crate.
