My beta fish is getting fuzzy, I know that's bad, how do I help it?

I got my betta fish about a week ago, and he is starting to get fuzzy stuff on him. A woman at the pet store told us that was a bad sign usually. How can I get it clean?
 
it might be ich, it might be fungus, before you treat you fish make sure you have properly diagnosed it.
