my car radio's aux doesn't work. anyone know what i can do?

if i plug in my aux cord into my car radio, nothing plays when i play my ipod. it used to work when i angle the cord a certain way but it doesn't even do that anymore. anyone know what i can do that doesn't involve me buying another radio?
