My cat is almost a year old and was neutered last week?

He's done nothing but sleep and lay around. He looks kind of sad....

Is this normal after male cats get neutered? He used to be so energetic and playful, and now he just sleeps.
 
If his poop and pee look okay, and he doesn't have any swelling anywhere, he's probably just depressed.

You need to watch for signs of infection (swelling) because that will make him lethargic. Chances are, it is because of his loss of testosterone through the neutering process. He was an adolescent male before and his body would 'notice' the lack of hormone. It may be that he just needs to re-group...Let him sleep, but check for signs of infection.

If he doesn't snap out of it in a couple of days, call your vet.
