Hi everyone,
I have an 8yr old Persian/Himalayan indoor cat that seems to be depressed. Recently you can find him walking around the house whining, not 'meow' ing but really making more of an whine sound and definitely not whailing like he's in pain or anything.
When I try talk to him and ask him what's the matter, he whines more and continues to walk around the house. Is he bored? I've tried playing with him and he is totally not interested, he's still eating and drinking properly and litter issues don't seem to be at the root of all this... maybe a hairball is bothering him??
Please help me understand what's wrong with my 'kitty'!!! Sounds like just a regular mood funk to you or something more?? Will it dissipate on it's own?
Does he need a new toy maybe??
Thank you!!
Background info:
He is usually pretty content with sleeping during the day while I'm not home and he'll get this glazed/bored look in his eyes, lose concentration and leave the area if I play with him for more than 5 mins at a time. He also typically hates being picked up and cuddled; prefers to be adored from a distance.
