My CD burner and DVD player are no longer recognized by my desktop?

Yesterday I needed to check my memory sticks because I want to add more memory to my desktop. In order to reach the sticks, I have to unplug my HD and remove the case that holds it, as well as unplug my CD burner and move it slightly away from it's location. When I plugged everything back in, I noticed my CD burner "and" my DVD player no longer show in "My Computer", only my C: and A: drives!
How can I recover them?
I need to burn some CD's, so do I have to do something for my pc to "recognize" it, followed by do something else for the drive to "burn" CD's again?
Please help... thx!!!

Note: This isn't the 1st time I unplug everything and plug everything back in, btw, (I've just never had this problem before) so I know that when I plug everything back in and turn on my pc, I have to restore the settings in SETUP back to default, as well as reset my clock, so I'm wondering if there's something that needs to be changed/set in the SETUP for my D: and E: drives...?
