My cellphone LG VIEWTY KU990 from other country can't detect my local sim card?

My friend bought it from France and gave it to me (in Malaysia)

When I took out the original sim card (a French line) inside and put in mine (a local line), the phone states that there is no sim card detected.

How to program it to international status so it can detect my local Malaysia simcard and not just only French simcard?
