My cousin wrecked my car... What can I do?

I let my cousin borrow my car because I was going to be out of the state and did not need it like she did. Was that illegal of me to do?

Anyhow, she wrecked it and got a dui. I had to pay $207 for the impound, which I can't prove, and $520 for repairs, which I can prove.

It's been over a year since and she still hasn't paid me the money. What can I do?
 
small claims-get the record of the accident and her dui to take with you. Request the monies in a letter to her first-make copies of everything. That shows you tried to get her to pay for her obligations before you take her to court. If you do so-she just might work something out with you. If she offers-get that in writing too-always! Signed and dated!
