My 12 year old daughter was in an accident that left her paralyzed from the neck down and she is now confined to a wheelchair, dependent on a ventilator and she has to be diapered, etc...She is going to be ready to start school again though in the fall, where she'll have assistance throughout the day but will be in the mainstream classes. She is extremely afraid about it and hates when I even bring up the subject. She is afraid of being stared at and made fun of and being around the kids who used to know her before the accident. What should I do? I feel so bad because she's still such a beautiful girl and I don't want to see her even more unhappy then she already is. Should I put her in a different school than the one she went to before? How should I deal with it if kids treat her differently and make her feel bad?
