My DVD/CD-ROM won't read DVD's?

My DVD/CD-ROM can read CD's fine but it won't read my DVD's I tried updating the drivers automatically through windows, but haven't manually because I could not find the drivers. When I put in a DVD, I hear it trying to start it then my cursor has a cd next to it then nothing.

Any help is appreciated =P
 
my laptop dvd drive does the same thing. someone said its either a sign the drive is starting to die or you have some sort of virus that is interfering with it. i am still getting round to reformating and reinstalling everything to see if that fixes it. get yourself an external one i got one on ebay for around $60 just plugs into usb.
