My DVD/CD RW drive stopped working the other day & I don't know why. I tried doing system restore to see if that would help, but it keeps giving me an error message telling me system restore did not work because of either the anti virus program or something else...I don't understand computer lingo very well...When I put a DVD or CD into the drive it acts like it's not even in there. It won't recognize the disc at all. I've had trouble like that in the past, but at those times my computer didn't even show that I had a media player. I was able to do system restore at those times & it fixed the problem, but this time my computer says the DVD/CD drive IS working properly, so I don't know if it's a software or hardware problem...Is there any advice you can give me?? Do you think I should just uninstall the anti virus program I have on my PC & try something different? I don't know which virus protection program to trust or how to download one again if I uninstall the one I do have. I don't know if uninstalling it would help system restore to work & if system restore would even fix the problem I'm having with the DVD/CD drive....I have Avir Antivir. I have Windows 7 Professional.
