My god of war 2 (ps2) doesn't work and it is new and squeaky clean,please help!?

I bought god of war 2 for the ps2(used), it didn't work, so I exchanged it for a new, squeaky clean one... still doesn't work. My other games, like GTA San Andreas and Scarface work on the system, so I don't know what the problem is. (Not to brag, but just to show you how bad my luck is) I tried it out on my PS3(80gb) and it turns out that I have one of the 80gigs that isn't backwards compatible. What do you think the problem is, please help!
 
yea my brother has the 80gb ps3 and it is not backwards compatible unless you download the games off the playstation store
