...joke. He just doesn't get me.? When his friends come over, I totally hit it off with them, and my husband gets mad and wants me to go in the house. I have a sarcastic personality. It's like everyone gets me but my husband! He's a good guy and all, but this is going on 10 years with not getting my humorous side. Then he insults me because he's an idiot!!!! But he calls me names! Example: Him: "What have we got for a snack? I'm hungry?" (we have this HUGE brick of cheese in the fridge that he JUST had to HAVE, and hasn't touched, so I said:) Me: "How about that cheese you just ha-ad to have!" And I said it smiling and joking. Then he freaked and started insulting me. This is very typical. It's very hard to live life with someone who has no sense of humor and is always insulting, but other than that is a good person. Any suggestions, anyone? And don't say divorce, because that is not the answer I'm looking for. And yes, I've confronted him, and he acts like a baby. Kind of the "do as I say, not as I do" mentality. Help!!!!

He's crying for respect here Dear! He may not be even with your sarcasm, because he's hoping to have a women who is more respectful in his eyes. You might think its all fun, but he see's swings at his ego and self core.

You may SAY it "smiling and joking" but I'm betting there's some underlying passive aggressiveness in there, based on your comment in parenthesis.

You married him knowing he had no sense of humor so deal with it, and stop being a smart ass to him.
 
interrupt him when he's insulting you and ask what did you do to him, or why he's doing it...or maybe just change the subject before he even talks. Or just insult him back...er...well, that might cause a problem, so don't do that...lolz.

was he lacking a sense of humor before you two married? I would think he was like this then. Maybe he just finds your humor rude, although your humor is just like mine. Sometimes, when I am irritated about something, like if my husband had left a big block of cheese in the fridge that he had to have, I would crack the same kind of joke, but only because I was irritated about him not eating it and I am trying to let him know that without being direct. So I tease and make light of it as to #1, let him know to eat the damn cheese, and #2 say it in a funny sarcastic way without getting mad. but now that I read what you are saying, I can see how my hubby gets annoyed with me to. Just ask him, hun do you think you are going to eat this? otherwise I am going to use it in a recipe or maybe just get rid of it. he probably doesnt like the smart ass thing.
 
Well, you know, that whole "ha-ad to have" business could be seen as nagging. I mean, the man made a poor cheese purchasing decision, he doesn't want to feel you're rubbing his face in it. Men are very touchy when it comes to dairy products.
