This is the second tv they have sent us and it worked for a little and then just stopped, but we can hear everything. What could be the problem??
Well okay, it will work but then it turns off after a couple minutes after first plugging it in.

There are a ton of things needed for video that could internally fail but leave the sound ok. The most stressed parts are in the horizontal sweep and high voltage sections. Without looking at the set and having test equipment at hand, any conjectures would be just guesses. LG is known to be prone to failures.

First, make sure it's the TV and not your input source. Test the TV with different inputs: over-the-air antenna, DVD player, game box, cable or satellite box, etc. Picture missing with only one input? You’ve partially solved it: bad source, jack, or cable.

Picture missing on every input? If that's an LCD TV, chances are you've lost the backlight on that set. It's probably a fluorescent lamp that's burned out, or there's a fault in the circuitry that powers or controls the lamp.

If the set is in warranty, get it replaced or repaired under the warranty. If it isn't, it's a rather expensive job for a repair shop.
