my LG Xenon gr500f battery cover wont open.?

I just got it today and I've had trouble getting the case off to put the battary in.. it says press the battery cover release latch and the battary cover should lift off easy.. but it isnt?

is there any chances that the phone is faulty?
i tried the knife thing but it scratched the paint off and didnt fit in >.<

Hello.You can try prying it open with something like a knife(not a sharp one tho)I experienced this before.Hope this helps.

mine was the same luckily the sales person had already put the battery in for me

Simply mash it in with a screwdriver and it will open.
