My manager got mad at me because I did greet a customer...?

I was filling up this display, right?

The display model was set about 15 feet away from the door and the customer walked in. I was about to say, "Hi, do you need help finding anything?" but then she walked the opposite way, towards customer service, and I didn't feel the need to hunt her down.

Then my manager walked up and said, "I know you were going to do that." And I said, "What?" he said, "You're bad at customer service."

I mean, it's not like I was going to follow her and ask her for help when she was walking to customer service. Then she walked towards my direction AFTER my manager talked to me and I asked her for help.

It just made me mad that he said that.

I mean, I give good customer service and I'm nice and friendly, you know?

What do you think?
Oops, I meant to say "Didn't greet a customer."
