recent floods and such? I know that after the crazy earthquakes in Japan ( D:) it has caused major flooding and tsunamis in and around Hawaii and the west coast.

I am wondering how serious they are as my parents are vacationing there and i just want to be sure i have no reason to worry.

It would actually depend on which island they were staying on. Also, you should Google the weather reports for that particular location!

Have you considered calling them or emailing them to find out what type of weather they're currently experiencing? That would be your best way to gain correct information before worrying about something that may not even be a viable threat. You could even ask that they send you a picture message from their cell phones!

The worst part of the tsunami was in Japan, but other island obviously experienced some flooding. Unless you find out exactly where they're staying versus where the flooding is, you can't be certain there's anything wrong with their situation!

DO NOT worry about them until you have heard first-hand what they're experiencing.

Unlikely.

1) The tsunami are over.

2) The quake that caused them relieved the stress on that fault line, so there won't be any more trouble there for a bit.

3) There aren't a lot of fault lines near Hawaii, which is in the middle of a plate. If a major quake does strike, Hawaii will have warning of any tsunami, especially now that everyone's on edge from the last quake.

4) Yes, there _could_ be another quake somewhere else, but how awful it would be to live your life as if disaster is always about to hit.
