My Playstation 3 just stays blank when switched on,what can i do?

i switch it on,u can hear the machine goin like normal but no picture plus the control pad doesn't sync with it it just keeps flashing.im panicking now as my camera has been stolen and my only back up photos are on my PS3-Anyone plz help,or if there is a way of getting my photos back!!

might sound stupid but make sure you got all the cables plugged in right, it might just be your av lead not connecting. if the light on your system is still looking ok, red wen off, green wen on, blue with a disc in, then things aint too bad, but you may have to contact sony.
a system reset could be dodgy, cos this can delete your hdd too
 
im pretty sure you can pull your hard drive out and put it in another ps3 dude
