My grandson had a similar problem. I was an electronics technician before I retired so I wasn't afraid to open the box. I found HEAVY accumulations of dust throughout the unit. I cleaned as much as I could with a vacuum and blew the rest out with compressed air. After I put it back together I worked just like a brand new one. Your system is probably in the same shape. I would caution you not to open it unless you have some experience in electronics. Most of the newer devices are packed pretty tightly in order to make the units as small as possible. And, exercise extreme care when using compressed air to blow out the box. Too much pressure can do damage that may not be visible to the naked eye.
