cable.? Recently, I had obtained a Trojan and had to format my hard drive. I reinstalled Vista on my PC, and tried to connect it to the internet via an Ethernet cable. Before, If I had ever plugged in an Ethernet cable (hooked directly to my Comcast modem), it would detect my Comcast internet service. After formating, I plugged in the Ethernet Cable and Vista popped up and said "New hardware detected". I then clicked the option to install the dirver for it, which it shouldn't. IT'S AN ETHERNET CABLE!. Vista told me it was an Ethernet Controller. It isn't. IT thinks it came with a cd with driver software cd, but no. It doesn't. It didn't come with a CD at all. I tried everysingle kind of Ethernet Cable, but I still get the message telling me to install "drive software" for something that doesn't even have anything with it. How do I get it so that It will just connect. (My PC spec's are 500 gigabyte harddrive, 4 gigabybes of ram, and custom built, so it's not from any clear company)
