I drive a 2001 Mazda B3000 pickup. I took my brother into town to cash a crapload of pop cans for some extra cash today, and on the way home I hit a giant pothole in the middle of the road, hidden by a big puddle of water. (Thank you, city of Salem. Wonderful job on road maintenance). This hole wasn't just a bump. It sent the entire truck lurching to one side. I thought it was gonna roll over. Anyway when we got out of it, there was a weird screeching noise coming from under the hood. It sounded like "Scree Scree Scree Scree Scree" whenever I'd accelerate. When my speed would level out, or when I either hit the brakes , take my foot off the pedal or idle, the sound was non-existent. Only when I'd accelerate.
We pulled over and looked at it, and I'd assumed it was the belt rubbing funny on the pulleys, but my stepdad (when we told him about it later) says it may have something to do with alignment. On the way home from there, the noise stopped. What is it, and would it be the city's fault or my fault?
