Many moons ago I taught English and used a humorous short story about the death of a classroom pet. I know it sounds weird but it was good. If anyone knows the story title or the author name, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
Brody--I don't remember chicken talons but it's possible. The story started with the death of a classroom pet (hamster? guinea pig?) and digressed into other losses and a big discussion about the meaning of life/death. I think it was written as if an adult narrator was explaining the death to one of the young children. Let me know if you think of any other details. (PS - I'm new to this and am not sure how to respond to your reply so I'm posting up here.)
