Bolstered by Republican gains in the midterm elections, the National Right to Life Committee is urging antiabortion-rights lawmakers in several states to push bills mirroring a Nebraska law (LB 1103) that bans abortion after 20 weeks' gestation, the AP/Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The Nebraska law, which took effect Oct. 15, prohibits abortion after 20 weeks based on supporters' claims that fetuses can feel pain at that stage.
