Ok, so I know there's a vast world of technology out there beyond the basic stereo, and beyond the typical home theater surround sound system. I don't want either of these. I'm moving into a new apartment, and am making my living room a purely audio experience (there will be no TV, at least for the foreseeable future). I do not need massive power, nor do I want massive speakers - I want a generally minimal, but visually attractive setup. The kind of criteria I'm looking for includes:
- Visually attractive, but minimal (this is flexible)
- Capability to play a variety of audio types would be nice, but I'm open to suggestions (i.e. record, mp3, cd, etc)
- Relatively inexpensive - I do not have an immense budget for this, but I am open (and leaning towards) a system that I can build over time.
- Capability to eventually incorporate a TV would be nice, but is not a requirement by any means.
Again, I know there's a vast world of tech out there that I'm just not all that familiar with, and most of it costs a fortune - if I had $100k I could easily build the system of my dreams, but that's because that's all I've been able to find. What I need is someone who can maybe provide the right inspiration for me to work among vintage/used pieces, etc, so as to compile the kind of system I'm looking for.
