When I was self medicating what eventually turned out to be ADHD, I took high doses of ephedrine over a long term. 300mg-600mg a day. After my Doctor prescribed me adderall, I continued to take ephedrine for a time, but I was able to quit. My blood pressure has registered as normal at the Doctor's office. When taking ephedrine, I would often feel sick to my stomach, and sometimes my kidneys would hurt. Since I stopped abusing, I havent experienced any of these side effects, despite the fact that I am now prescribed adderall, which I do not abuse.

My question is, even though I am not experiencing long term effects, should I ask my Doctor to check me out to make sure I didnt permanently damage my body. I am afraid that there could be damage, and by the time I notice adverse effects caused by the damage, it will be too late to do anything about it. I am also concerned that my Dr knew I had abused ephedrine so much, she may take away my prescription. I need adderall for balancing work and college, paying attention in class, and to keep my motivation. If she takes it away, then everything I have going for me right now, will all come crashing on my head. I have never felt so confident in myself, had such high self-esteem, and had such clear goals, since I was diagnosed with ADHD-inattentive and had the situation corrected through adderall. If I lose all this, it would probably drive me so deep into a depression, I would only escape through death.

What do you think I should do?
