NEED ADVICE! Want to move to California by August 2011?

I am a 20 year old college student and I currently live in Atlanta, Ga. I have a roommate here, so I know how it is paying bills.. I been looking on roommates site that have a room to share and I figure that will be cheaper. I will have at least $1,300 left after I fix little things on my car and stuff that I will need and I will be driving to California from Georgia. I really want to move to California since I was 15 years old.. I really want a new environment and my mind and heart is set on California.. I lived in New York for 15 years until I move to Atlanta and I don't want to live there. I been applying at jobs there, so I can be in their system when I get there since I won't have wifi for my laptop as yet. The question is will $1,300 get me by until I find a job? Since transportation is more popular there then where I am (I have to drive everywhere) I really don't have to worry about gas.. This will be my ONLY opportunity to move to California and I been planning it for almost 2 years now. Your personal opinions matters and it will REALLY help me to get an insight. I don't have to drive to California and I can always come back for my car since it will be at my moms house. I can just take personal items that i REALLY need and get a blow up mattress until better come. To me I think if my mom can come to America from Jamaica almost 30 years ago with nothing and survive and become a nurse practitioner I think I can do it. If I believe in myself I know I can make it out in California, but again I am asking for your advice.
