Need help with a bike powered generator?

I am building a custom bicycle, which includes a small speaker system hooked up to it. But I am too cheap to constantly buy batteries, and would like to know how I could hook up my bike with some sort of generator so that I can have an active power supply and also save a lil money. I know just about nothing about the whole generator deal, so please be as specific as possible, thanks :)

Bicycle dynamos used to be commonplace for teenage boys.

The output would have to be rectified and then regulated to supply the speaker system with the correct voltage.

The available current from your legs would also have to be what the speaker system needs.

Consult your bicycle shop.
