Need help with limewire protection?

I'm not a technical geek or anything but ive been using limewire for about 3 months. I heard of one of my freinds got caught with limewire a school and hes screwed. And im kinda paranoid right now. Are there any things i can do besides reseting my hardrive or deleting limewire from my computer?
 
Limewire is not illegal to use its what you are downloading that is illegal.

If he got caught then its already way too late for him and you if you are being tracked.

The best thing to do is use it the right way and download non copyrighted stuff like open source.

Open source is completely free and legal to download. I don't know why people choose inferior copyrighted software and use cracks and keygens.

Especially since there is almost always a great open source software alternative that is completely legal and free to use. Modify and do pretty much whatever you want with it without breaking any laws.
 
maybe he was using it on a school computer..keep a password on your computer so they wont be able to know you have the program on your computer a password is personal and they cant force you to give it up.
 
For windows, delete any registry keys associated with limewire (or uninstall it, then use a good registry cleaner to remove it [N360]. For mac, use AppZapper.
 
He probably was using limewire on a school computer. They probably walked up behind him and saw he was using it.

If you are downloading illegal songs off of limewire, there is no way to be secure. If you are not caught by the authorities, you will catch a virus. Lots and lots of viruses.
