I have a 78 GS550E. Its a nice bike, and I have done a lot of work to it. But as with all older vehicles, the need to constantly replace parts is inevidable. Last night, it was raining hard when I went to leave work. I didn't anticipate the rain, so I never covered the bike. The bike started fine, but after about 10 seconds, the headlight and the backlighting for the gauge cluster went out. They would not come back on. Everything else still works. The gauges work, the brake lights, the turn signals, etc. I know the electrical stuff on these older bikes should be simple, but I have no electrical experience, only mechanical. I checked over the wires, fuses, lamps, switches, etc. But everything seemed to be intact. If someone has experience with this, I would greatly appreciate the input, as the bike is currently my only transportation to work and I need the lights to work to get home at night. thanks.
