Netflix on demand: Samsung Blueray w/ on demand or Mac Mini to a flat screen TV?

We were going to buy a Samsung Blueray dvd player with Netflix etc on demand but my wife said that she wanted to hook up a mac mini instead. But I was thinking that Netflix designed the on demand to TV capability using either the Roku box or Blueray player etc. There must be better resolution than from a computer. Has anyone noticed a difference? Or maybe tried both methods (off a laptop to TV and through an on demand box)
