Ok.. im sorta new to baseball and i like the white sox. In the standings I see they are in 2nd place in the AL central. How many wins and losses do they need to be in first I dont understand it. Does it matter how many losses they have or just the amount of wins they have. Im super confused and frustrated!!

The Indians are in first place, 1 game ahead of the White Sox and Tigers. The standings are based on winning percentage (Wins divided by Games Played). For the White Sox to be in first they have to win a higher percentage of their games then the other teams in their division.

Pretty much any standings will have a GB column for Games Back, the Sox are 1 game back of the Indians. A win is worth .5 games. a loss is worth .5 games. If the white Sox win today they gain a half game, if the Indians lose today, they lose a half game. If the Indians win they gain a half game and the division wouldn't change (at least with those two teams). Same goes for losses, if they both lose, then nothing changes, if the Indians win and the White Sox lose, the Sox lose a whole game on the Indians.

It's really simple once you get it, i hope i explained well.

lol. at least you're trying to get into it. It all has to do with who leads their division. I believe the Tigers are in first place, so what has to happen for the White Sox to get first place is they need to get a better record than Detroit. Once the White Sox get more wins, they will then be in first.
