I recently purchased my 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5s
I had a roadside machanic come with me to look at the car.
Everything was fine with it besides it needing new tires.
I did the tune up on it & got the front end aligned along with the new tires ect.
I recently noticed my car decreasing speed going up a hill.
It also will lose power sometimes at a red light and it takes a lot of force to get it to go. I have to push the pedal down farther than usual. I havent noticed the RPMs going up or any noises.
I am not sure if its the transmission or what? I really want opinions before I go tell a mechanic and spend tons money. I will be driving back and forth from college. I had all the fluid checked and the only thing is it uses more oil than my last car which was a v6 Eclipse. I dont know if its just getting adjusted to a 4 cly. from the v6 or if its the transmission or something little. It doesnt do it all the time but when it does it comes at random and i'll have to pull over and turn the car off and start it back up. I also had the battery replaced a month ago. HELP!??! ugh.
UGH just what i imagined! altimas are sh!t.
i don't think its slipping because the gears sound fine and it reverses etc.
the only thing is that it feels like it just has no power, i was used to my eclipse and it had been fixed to go faster by the guy who previously owned it. the altima just seems to lose power we hooked it up to the computer at autozone and the guy said it read that nothing was wrong besides the gas top wasnt screwed on and it fixed that and cleaned it. i dont think its slipping but i know somethings wrong...

I KNOW! if its an manual transmission then its your clutch and you need it replaced as soon as possible if its a automatic transmission its your transmission slipping this will cost alot of money to fix to get prepared
