One of the American's had a bad fall. I'm surprised health and safety haven't shut down the entire Olympic park for a nine month long basic safety review.
I think FOX News now is blaming the Obama Administration for not shutting down the Olympics for a 9-month safety review. I understand that challenger Mitt Romney has promised that if he is US President HE will shutdown the 2012 Summer Olympics for a 9-month safety review. Apparently Mr. Romney is asserting that a fundamental lack of safety reviews in Sports venues is one of the many reasons that the US Economy has been slow to recover. Yadda Yadda Yadda.....
Back when I was a kid, on Sandy Hill Estate in Farnham Surrey, there was a local BMX track that we used to scoot around all day in the holidays and weekends (just off Sandy Hill Lane and next to the common for anyone that knows the area).
Pretty stupid how health and safety gets in the way of having fun.
They should take a leson from Alfred.
"Why do we fall? ... So we can pick ourselves back up again."
One thing I have been hugely impressed with it the attitude of most of the athletes, both when they win and when they lose. Everyone that I have seen interviewed has thanked their support teams (coaches, medics, physios, psychologists etc) for their help - not something I ever remember hearing from the overpaid footballers who grace our screens far too often for my liking.
joques rogge the IOC president, said he thinks bolt should 'show more respect for his opponent and shake hands' when in fact bolt loves the crowds and they love him. They yell 'usain' butg didnt do that for gthe other athletes, he is always meeting fans and shaking hands, after the race on sunday they yelled 'do the bolt' Bolt also stopped a tv interview mid flow because the american anthem was being played for the winner of the female 400 meters. I think bolt is a sweety.
I really, really, really hope the press keep up the coverage of the hardworking, talented athletes, who've earned their medals and places at the games through hard graft, and don't go back to focusing on the talentless, idiot celebrities that they seem to love wasting newsprint on.
Oh and Eric Idle performing 'Always look on the bright side of life' at the closing ceremony!
