Once I'm saved, what happens if I persist in my gay marriage?

So I'm not legally married, but I would be if the law allowed it. So I'm living in sin with my gay lover, you might say. If I accept Jesus, do I have to change my life in any way? If I persist in my gay relationship will I go to hell? If I persist but daily ask forgiveness, will that matter? And what if I ask forgiveness but I don't feel like it's wrong? Is that too insincere? Will I not be forgiven if I ask with that attitude?
 
Well, christians always tell us that "salvation is a free gift", so you don't actually have to DO anything.

On the other hand, they also tell us that the reason we don't believe in their specific god is not because there isn't a shred of evidence it exists, but because we love to sin.
