one side of my ear phone always stops working?

what should i do . i have had so many for the past few months for my ipod . at first one side stops working . then both. i always have to insert in a special and keep it like that to keep the ipod working

what should i do ?

the recent i had was a HP earphone. yes expensive one. same thing happened
