Is there anyway of me getting my money back?
My nephew (8 years old) was online wanting to watch some programs online but before he could watch them, he had to do a quiz that eventually led him to signing up to some texting. He cancelled right away and received a cancellation text from the company that he will no longer receive text and subscription is cancelled. He did a total of 5 times through 4 companies. I received my July phone bill and was charged a total of 49.95 from the text companies. I figured I would be charged for July only because my nephew signed and was charged right away before the cancelling. I was charged again in August. I made calls today to see what the heck is happening and try to get my money back.
(1) The first company I called said they will not give any money back because even though my nephew received the text cancellation, I would have to call in to cancel (Doesn't make sense to me).
(2) Second company was automated. I had no way of arguing with them about it.
(3) Third company is sending me a 10.00 refund due to the fact that my nephew was underage according to the terms and condition.
(4) Fourth company claimed they only charged me once but cancelled once they recieved the text cancellation. I have to show proof that they charged the second time.
Here is my problem. I've been charged 100.00 total for a service my nephew cancelled and never used. He is only 8 years old. According to their terms and conditions, you have the be 18 years old. Why would they continue to charge even though they sent a confirmation text saying they cancelled the service???
It makes me wonder how many others they have gotten. This is a scam and I wonder if there is others willing group together to file a suit against these companies...
