Oreck XL-21 Vacumn question?

Have any of you ever taken apart their Oreck vacumn? We noticed on the beater brush a "normal" & "special" setting. Not sure where it was set before we took it apart. What's the difference? Where should it be set?
Yahoo's suggested catagory - Cars & Transportation > Car Makes > Suzuki Ha Ha!
 
Normal is the setting when brusshes are like new, the special setting is for when there is some wear. Doesn't make much difference which you use.
