Palestenian-Israeli Conflict

looks like the ceasefire might be done..

hard to say who is right and who is wrong in this story.

"JERUSALEM, June 10 — The ruling Hamas group fired a barrage of homemade rockets at Israel on Saturday, hours after calling off a truce with Israel in anger over an artillery attack that killed seven civilians at a beachside picnic in the Gaza Strip, according to Associated Press reports."

I take it from the phrase "Hamas ordered attack" that you don't believe last weeks rocket attacks count because of the rumours that they were carried out by Hamas members but not ordered by the leadership?

A referendum is coming up to decide about a two state approach. Hamas and Al Queda oppose that referendum. Rockets fired by members of Hamas hit Israelis, Israelis retaliate, Hamas retaliate. The palestinians are in an uproar because the Israelis retaliated. One would have to ask why members of Hamas decided to attack Israel at a point in time that there was a cease fire and polls showed that the majority of Palestinians were in favor of the two state approach? Did Hamas strike specifically with the intention of creating new conflict to keep the referendum from passing?

For medi's benefit because he seems to have a problem with reading things that don't fit in with his view of how the world should be.

I'm confused, the article I read stated that Hamas was breaking it's ceasefire for the first time in 18 months in repsonse to the rocket attacks by the Israeli's but the israelis where retalliating against earlier attacks.

Who made the earlier attacks then?

A breakaway group from Hamas made the initial attack without their approval, Hamas immediately condemmed the attack, the Israelis responded by indiscriminately killing a group of Palestinian civilians.

That rocket attack wasn't Hamas. They've never been reticent about owning up to their attacks.

An Israeli navy gunboat fired shells onto a northern Gaza beach Friday, killing at least seven people

I guess it's OK then, no hard feelings.

Don't you really mean that Hamas chose to say it was a breakaway group of people that are still members of Hamas made the attack because they wanted to create violence to keep the referendum, that most of the terrorists oppose but the people approve, from passing?

Hamas have been quite happy whenever they have killed Israeli's, if they wanted an excuse they could have created one quite easily. Instead the condemmed the attack.

However, even if they did order the attack, how does that justify Isreal firing shells onto a Palestinian beach at a family enjoying a picnic?

Hey Bil, btw, I notice that you never responded to the difference in injuries post I made. I don't see how people can claim that one side making apologies when innocents are killed and trying to use means like tear gas to keep injuries to a minimum is the same or worse than when the other side intentionally targets civilians and tries to do maximum killing and injuries.

The family was close to the target and they screwed up. It wasn't intentional. Hence they apologized. Will that make up for the death? No. But there is a difference between what they did and the obvious lie you just made.

You're rapidly becoming the king of posting links and/or quotes without actually making a point.

here is a picture of an Israeli bus blown up by a suicide bomber. It is graphic.

A little late with the story. But you did find one of the best example of inaccurate stories with a lot of rhetoric.

We know that 7 (not 10) innocent people were killed in an attack that Israel made in retaliation for the attack that Hamas members made. We know Israel apologized for hitting the innocent people that were close to the target they were shooting at. We know Hamas did not apologize for their attack which provoked this one. Although they did condemn their own members for doing the attack.

That's right... maybe instead of investigating this incident the Israeli military should run around with their hands in the shouting "God Is Great" by way of celebration.

Perhaps Bil, Sankaku, and MANewbie could post a realistic idea on how to peacefully resolve this confrontation without the extermination of the Jewish people or placing them at a lower level than the Palestinians currently have in Israel?
