Palestenian-Israeli Conflict

lol...Israel was given a ton more. Simply having a supplier does not tell anything about what was supplied and in what amount.

International does not equal objective either.

Many Arab countries as in more than one attacked Israel at once several times. Many of these countries were well armed but poorly trained.

What...you say international is not objective but accept the Israeli account? That doesn't make sense.

And you accept the Palestinan account?

Lets bring in some international investigators to get their biased views...smart!

Did I accept either? I said that neither side is exactly unbiased, and that someone from the Palestinian government invited an international team to investigate. I don't know what to believe.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous this sounds? The purpose of an international team is to get an unbiased account.

While obviously it's possible that the Israelis are simply lying about the mine, this part makes little sense:

To my limited knowledge, we can't be talking about a timed fuse giving an overhead burst if the shell struck the ground and made a crater consistent with 155mm. So the remark about injuries to the head and torso doesn't really make much sense.

Not that that really proves anything, and I could be completely wrong anyway, I'm just saying.

a mine would cause damage to the legs though, on one side I cant believe that Israel would lie about it, it threatens to do more damage to their reputation and will destroy any credibility they have.

Here's a definition of ignorance:

"Ignorance1) is a lack of knowledge. Ignorance is also a "state of being ignorant" or unaware/uninformed. Ex: "In debate class Bill lost the debate because he was ignorant in (without knowledge of) that subject."

(pejorative definition) Ignorance2) is the choice to not act or behave in accordance with what is popular/acceptable in order to suit ones own needs/beliefs."I know better but I choose to ignore that and do/say/act in a way that behooves me." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignorant)

Clearly the first definition is not applicable because I know quite a bit about the subject. The second definition may be applicable in your opinion, however, I could say the same about you for choosing to ignore the facts I've presented.

But yet again, instead of dealing with those facts, you continue to try and marginalize me in the hopes of marginalizing my argument as well. "Ignorant", "racist", "foolish", followed by the dismissal as if that's enough to counter the evidence I've presented. The fact is I have looked at both sides of this issue and my conclusion is the Jihadists, embodied in this instance by Hamas, will never pursue any kind of peace that allows Israel to exist. My conclusion is supported by exposed documents, Middle-Eastern experts, and the Hamas charter itself. What evidence do you have to refute my assertion?

Well this isn't based on any evidence at all, but I've got a hunch that what will bring Hamas to the table eventually is the fact that they are now in power. The fact that they now have to deal with the dull practicalities of government, plus the inevitable corruption and chicanery that goes hand-in-hand with government and politics the world over, will instill a more pragmatic approach in due course.

The trouble is that they may then get eclipsed by other groups who maintain a more uncompromising line. But that depends on their ability to be seen to deliver by their own supporters. And that in turn depends on largely on whoever is in power in Israel having the political nerve to put something worthwhile on the table.

More correct would be to say that in studying the issues and reviewing the facts, the opinion I've formed agrees with the views presented on those sites. The last time I checked, books written by guys with Doctorates who then have their books reviewed by councils of their peers before publishing constitute credible sources. Or is all of academia part of the "zionist conspiracy" too?

whats a Doctorate got to with anything ?
many eduacated people still manage to be racist bigoted crackpots ?
i am sure many of the Nazi's were well educated

the Internet is a wonderfull place for crackpots and bigots of all kinds, as you have proven yet again

I hope you are right that they will take a less hardline stance. The alternative being, the West will continue to withhold the normal aid payments that enable Palestine to function at all. Any other course than a softening of policy will likely result in chaos.

Really the purpose of an international team chosen by the Palestinians is to be unbiased or back up the Palestinians?

Does the Internation team include Jordan, Egypt, Iran and Syria? Sorry I don't have faith in "international" somehow equating to "objective"

This thread had American, Canadians, Irish and Brits. I don't think anyone is objective.

The Palestinians called for an international team. Not a team that they chose, that isn't the point of an independant investigation.

Whats the point? I am not sure what you mean. The point is too call for a team? Not actually have a team, just to make the call.

If the international team sides with Israel, will the Palestinians accept that decision or denounce it saying the team was biased towards Israel? And if the team makes a decision regardless of who's side they come down on...what does that mean? Nothing.

it doesn't matter what the Palestinians say, if an Internation, independant team come in and side with the Israelis story then that is enough to convince 99% of the rest of the world that it wasn't the Israelis shells. If I was Israel I would be more than happy to let experts examine the site...unless of course we had just released a false report blaming the Palestinians for our **** up.

I'd like to add at this point, it's my understanding that the Israelis have plenty of landmines in Gaza and the West Bank. If it turns out it was a mine, we can't assume it was a Palestinian mine as the Israelis say.
