Do you believe that there is an age for a cell phone or do you think it is based on neccessity?
I believe its a little of both. I wouldn't buy a typical 9 year old a phone, but in a situation like mine where parents were seperated and in the middle of a not-so-nice divorce, a simple prepaid one would be completely fine. Once a child got into around 6th or 7th grade, I would consider a contract phone ONLY IF I felt they were responsible enough. And I would make it clear, as my parents did to me, its a privilige, not a right.
