Well, i got rid of my car to a company that buys them for parts etc, and i'm getting a new car...things kept going wrong with it.

I have got 2 tickets on the post for after i sold the vehicle. I'm sure i sent back my registration to the dvla, maybe they did not get it.

do i have to pay this?

thanks :(

As long as you have a bill of sale signed by both parties or a date on the V5 logbook stating the day the car was sold then you are in the clear ...

Ring DVLA and see where the V5 is and if they recieved it.

Its not unlike the DVLA to either miss place or not action documentation that might have been sent through.

As long as the V5 has been changed and sent through and you have a receipt for the sale I think you should be good.. .

As long as you show proof to DMV that the car wasn't registered to you during this time then you shouldn't have to pay it. Good Luck though.

You do if you are still the registered keeper.

I would call the DVLA straight away and find out what's going on - you don't mention how long ago you sold the car, but if the tickets were issued just a couple of days after, it may be the system hasn't caught up. The DVLA is full of admin mistakes and errors, they may never have received your part of the log book, or they may well have it but haven't done anything with it yet!

On a separate note, whomever is driving the vehicle at the moment will have needed the new keeper documents in order to tax the car (did you sell it with any tax left on it?) Also they obviously didn't just buy it for parts, as they've clearly been driving it around.

In answer to your question - if you can prove you sold the car AND sent off the log book BEFORE the tickets were issued, then no you wouldn't have to pay the fine. But if you cannot prove it, or the car is still registered in your name, then yes you would have to pay.
