People in the US, what would you think of the introduction of a NHS?

Just wondering as I live in the UK and so take it very much for granted. Do you recon that it would improve your country or hinder it?
The NHS is a national health service.

It basically means that all of your health care is provided by the state. You have to pay nothing.

If you want an amazing example of it, watch sicko by Michael Moore "in the UK, they pay you to go to hospital" LOL

It would be a big improvement -- countries with socialized medicine spend half of what we do and do better on objective measures such as life expectancy. But I don't expect it to happen. The insurance industry is too powerful here.

It is likely an NHS would not be introduced in the USA, as it would be very difficult and expensive to introduce. It would benefit poorer people who have no health insurance, but Americans tend to oppose state handouts and prefer the choice they get from their own healthcare system.
