Philips HDMI Recorder DVD?

I can't seem to figure out how to record TV with this. I've had it for several years (embarrassing to say) and seemed to have misplaced the manual. If someone could help, that would be great!
 
It works like an old vhs recorder. You put in a blank dvd-r or dvd-rw and set up a timer or just press record if you want to record the show your watching.
You could probably download a manual which will take you farther than I can. The dvd has to be finalized before you can use it in another dvd player.
